HENNA - IS A HENNA TATTOO HARD TO DO?

With our kit and stencils it is easy, but you cannot do it alone. Anyone who can trace the lines on the stencil can apply the henna paste. If you don't have a friend or family member that can help you, ask your hairdresser to do it. Most love the idea and are great at it. I mix the henna paste at home and take it with me to minimize the time.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

You have to plan ahead and mix the henna paste at lease 6 hours in advance and overnight is better. The first application can take from 45 minutes to 1 hour, but once the design is on your head and you are more familiar with the materials and the process it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to re-trace if you do it before it fades.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

That can vary a little. I find it lasts a full 7 days and can completely disappear in 10 days. I have kept my tattoo going for more than a month by re-applying henna paste once a week while it is easy to see and trace.

Tips that will help it last longer: Keep it as dry as possible. Cover the design with Vaseline or a shower cap while showering or swimming.

WHAT IF I WANT TO REMOVE THE TATTOO?

You can speed up how fast it wears off by washing your scalp with soap and a washcloth regularly. The water helps break the henna down and the washcloth will gently exfoliate.

DO I NEED TO BE COMPLETELY BALD?

Yes, for the best results we do recommend it. I shave any stubble a day before I apply a new henna design. If you are at a stage where your hair is growing you may want to let the design wear off completely. Then to re-apply, shave again and start fresh. If you shave with the tattoo on it will disappear more quickly because you are removing a layer of skin.

CAN I HAVE AN ALLERGIC REACTION?

In the "Earth Henna Body Painting Kit" only the Eucalyptus oil ever causes an allergic reaction, and only in a very few people. We recommend you test the oil on your skin and if it is a problem use vegetable oil from your kitchen instead. People who may have had a previous allergic reaction to henna probably had a solution containing black dyes applied. Earth Henna Body Painting Kit™ does not contain any dye.
