Hardhat With My Name On It
I'm an architect, and while at work around 21 days
after my first chemo, my hair started falling out. I told my
colleagues to expect me to be hairless after the weekend. The
principal under whom I worked was very upset because I was upset. He
was also just a wee bit clueless. I came to work on Monday bald, and
he'd had a very special hardhat made for me with my name on it and
everything. I know he meant well, but I've always wondered if he
expected me to wear in the office now that I was hairless.
